Darnell was the beloved runner-up this season on Best Ink, and most people could see his success coming. Some people even think he should have won Best Ink with his final back piece...but Darnell doesn't. Click "more" to read his full exit interview!

Hannah's Top 5 Highlights from 'Best Ink 3'

This was one heck of a rollercoaster season for all of us on the judging panel, as well as for the 14 artists who gave it their all. We judges don't get the opportunity to see a lot of what happens with the artists behind the scenes until the final season is wrapped and aired -- yep, we watch it just like everyone else!  No spoilers here!! So it was especially interesting for me to get a chance to see the final edited episodes every week and get a little more context and insight into each of these terrific artists. The Street Shop Flash Challenge (PHOTOS)

The judges definitely saved the hardest Flash Challenge for last. The Final 3 contestants had only eight hours to set up in a street shop on Venice Beach and complete five tattoos. This challenge really tested the artists' time management (and people) skills. Unfortunately Alayna didn't make the cut and got sent home, leaving Karly and Darnell to fight for the grand prize and winning title of Best Ink! Check out the tattoos from the final Flash Challenge here!

The Final Ink Challenge

by Oxygen Blogger |

This one was for all the marbles (plus the $100,000 and cover of Tattoo Magazine!) After Alayna was eliminated in the Flash Challenge, Top 2 finalists Karly and Darnell were tasked with creating a full back piece each, in just two eight-hour sessions. Karly's skin wanted to represent his journey coming out of the closet after being raised in a Christian family. Darnell's skin wanted to represent the struggles he and his family faced being raised by a single parent. In the end, Karly's piece impressed the judges just a little bit more and she won the title of Best Ink! Do you agree with the judges' final decision? Vote in the poll below!

Alayna's Exit Interview: I Was Rooting for Darnell & Karly

by Oxygen Blogger |

Alayna was one of the more unlikely artists to compete on Best Ink. As a sweet, good-natured girly-girl who worked as an accountant until just a few years ago, people didn't expect her to become one of the top competitors on a tattoo show. But Alayna made a bold move to pursue tattooing, and she landed in the number 3 spot in this season of Best Ink! She was eliminated in the finale, but only after creating an amazing body of work and making loads of friends in the process. Judge's Corner: Joe's Final Blog of Season 3!

by Joe Capobianco |

Wow, seems like 12 weeks just flew by, and here we are announcing our winner! This particular season for us judges was such a change up from previous seasons, simply based on the fact that we never really felt there were any clear front-runners. I think that the young age of the tattooers, and their time in the trade was really what kept us on the edge of our seats week after week.
